RPI welcomes students from partner universities around the world to study for a semester or full academic year.
If you are interested in attending RPI as an exchange student:
- You must be enrolled at one of our Exchange Partner Institutions. Check with your home institution to determine your eligibility.
- Eligible students must be nominated by their home institution before submitting an exchange application. Nominated students will be invited to submit an application and will receive an application link from RPI Education Abroad.
- RPI does not offer a visiting student program and does not accept free movers outside of formal exchange agreements.
- All exchange students will have undergraduate status at RPI, regardless of academic status at the home institution.

Application Materials
- University Transcript (official or unofficial)
Copy of the identity page (valid at least 6 months beyond program end date).
- Proof of financial support in the amount of US $8,600 per semester for room, board, local transportation and basic living expenses
- Acceptable documentation:
- Bank letter verifying funds available in your account, OR
- Bank letter verifying funds in your parent/sponsor’s account + sponsor letter stating the money is for your support.
- Acceptable documentation:
- Financial support documents must be in English.
- Students must demonstrate English lanaguage proficiency in one of the following ways:
- Native language is English
- Language of instruction at the home institution is English
- Home institution can verify student proficiency by means of an entrance exam or other objective means
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - minimum score of at least 88 iBT; (TOEFL iBT Home Edition accepted)
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) band score of at least 7.0
- Duolingo English Test (DET) - minimum score of 115
- Pearson’s Test of English (PTE) - PTE score of at least 59
- All students will be required to submit an English Language Proficiency Verification Form which will be provided with the application.
